Sun kissed me so hard – Dark skin after 5 weeks on island

I really enjoy lying on the beach, reading cosmopolitan magazine and drinking coconut shake. I believe that we all women on the beach loves sun kissed skin. And I believe that the sun kissed me so hard because my skin turned to be ‘so dark’ within a few weeks. Most of young Thai women pays for whitening products which promises to give white skin. But I pay for coconut shake and magazine to get tan.

I was so proud of my skin while living on the island. But when I came back home. My mom, my cousin, my aunt asked me the same question, “why you are so dark!?” – I knew it! “I had sunbathing almost every day” Koh Phangan is so beautiful and I can’t help not to go and enjoy lovely day.

24JAN, 2013 – Coming Back Home

I love to hug and to be hugged but not for saying good bye. When it comes to say good bye, I don’t want to let go. However, we say ‘good bye’ today because we will see ‘hello’ again tomorrow. So it’s not a bad thing!

Thong Sala Pier Koh Phangan

Thong Sala Pier

My friend took me to Thong-Sala pier and we arrived just 30 minutes before departure. So we don’t really have a lot of time to say good bye which is good for me, because I am not good at saying good bye (at all!) I was standing in front of my friend like a robot waiting for command. “Come on little girl, give me a hug!”Ok I think I have to hug and then what? I have to let go? And saying something nice? Trying not to cry? Oh I hate saying good bye.  Anyway I think it was smooth good bye for a robot like me. I lifted my heavy bags up and walked away – here we go! My memories on Koh Phangan started coming to my mind scene by scene.

Time to leave this paradise ( at least for a while)

I didn’t plan to be here or anywhere else. When I decided to have vacation, I wantedt to run away from where I used to be. Run away from same routines same people. So I just opened the door and came out. I don’t have many reason why koh phangan is my destination. And I’ve a lot of experiences for 5 weeks that I’ve been here.

Surprised From Ocean and Awesome Activities on Mae Haad Beach and Koh Ma, Deserted Island

My friend, M is still here and of course we will spend time together. We both always have no plans so we agreed to meet at his resort and find out our destination

Mae Haad Beach

Photo shooting at Malibu Beach

Today the Sun is working along well with clouds to make a lovely day. It makes us want to shoot some photos at Malibu Beach (again). My friend drove passed Malibu entrance and head to convenience shop: 7-Eleven. We need some chocolate to boost our brain. We came out with some chocolate bars. I don’t know how his body can maintain all those sweet.

Beautiful beach, white sand and warm sun always attracted people. There are many people on the beach. Some having sun bathing, children are building sand castles and couples are expressing love.

I unfolded my beach towel and we leave our stuff there. My friend walked far away into the ocean and tried to get some nice shots. Obviously he got at least a nice shot of a hot girl bum!

Having Brunch With Landlady

Yesterday at this time I was still in bed. But today is cold…really cold for the island

I start my day with a cup of coffee. Listening to soft music and check out some news. My friend who’s always grumpy in the morning has his coffee and checking his facebook. He says, facebook is like a news paper. He can check up situations, weather, and friends’ news. That’s actually truth. So we both sit in the kitchen checking ‘news’ and hum along Canon in D while he’s reading friend’s status… I mean ‘news’

He left when I was in toilet. “See you later, little girl” I hear he’s saying and walking away. He’s going to work. I have work to do too but I can’t force myself not to go back in bed.

I read something on internet until 9 O’clock. I’ve been in bed for 3 hours wasting my time? But I still don’t feel to do anything. Lazy to cook, lazy to move, lazy to sleep… believe me it happens when you’re so lazy.

It’s almost 11 O’clock now. I went to buy fried chicken and thai dessert. When I came back home, I saw my landlady cleaning the house next door.  The old neighbor just moved out. I give her some of Thai dessert which I remember she likes it. Two young boy come ask for available house while I’m talking with her. So we show them the place and I help them communicate.

Landlady comes to know that I have not eat anything yet. She invites me to have brunch at her house. What’s nice old lady. She brag about her ‘spicy sour soup with fish’ which I immediately say”OK” because it sounds so yummy. We wait until visitors gone and I follow her to her house.

I get all food by myself because she told me to do. “I will definitely love you if you come eat with me like this” She joins me on the floor and start getting some food to eat. She already ate but wanna join the meal. I can imagine that old lady might staying with dog and cats might be lonely. Once she got food in front of her, she start praying while I’m carrying spoon in the air to feed myself. I put it down and pray with her. I say nothing but I assume praying can just share like that.

I clean everything after we finished eating. I say thank you and left. I am happy and I can feel that she’s happy too.

Not so long that I am in my house. Those young guys come back with a lot of stuff and guitar! I am glad they are going to be my new neighbor. At least I will be so happy hearing guitar sound everyday. But I hope they will play only day time…please play only day time.

Fried Egg Salad - First time on Koh Phangan

First time for Fried Egg Salad – When I cook for my friend (host)

Since I’ve been living at my friend’s house I think I should do something in return. I requited his kindness, I decided to cook a few dishes for our dinner.

I went to shopping earlier without idea which dish I’m going to cook. And I came back in about 20 minutes later with a lot of things. I think it’s going to be enough for a few days. I got half kilogram of chicken breast, Ginger, Eggs, Onion, Beans, and a few more stuff.

When I was working at Hansa Resort, I remembered a guest ordered something look delicious and I’ve never cooked it. So it’s going to be good chance to try. That dish call “Fried Egg Salad” When it comes to “salad” for Thai food it’s usually spicy—you should know that 🙂

I’ve been taken any cooking class and I am a real beginner. Let’s see how I cook this dish…

I learn to cook Fried Egg Salad

Fried Egg Salad

Ingredients

–       Eggs

–       Onion ( all white, green, and red )

–       Chili

–       Tomato

–        Fries peanuts

–       Fish Sauce

–       Sugar

–       Lime

Preparation

–       Chop up the onion and chili

–       Cut tomato into not so big pieces

–       Fry egg and chop into pieces

Mix Salad Sauce

–       Mix Fish sauce, Sugar, Lime and chilies in a bowl. I don’t measure how much for each ingredients. So your expectation is every flavor is main flavor; sour, salty, sweet and spicy. Or adapt to any flavor you prefer.

Mix them together

–       Put onion and tomato to sauce bowl, mix them together

–       Prepare chopped friend egg in a dish

–       Pour Salad sauce on top mix

–       Add fried peanuts on top as optional

–       Enjoy!

It was my first time cooking this dish and it was well. I proud of myself 🙂

By the way I also cook another simple one as well. It called “Stir Fry Chicken with Ginger”

Stir Fry Chicken with Ginger

Cutting Ginger is tough!

Stir Fry Chicken with Ginger

–       Chicken breast sliced

–       Onion

–       Mushroom

–       Ginger

–       Beans

–       Fish sauce

–       Oyster sauce

–       Sugar

–       Oil

–       Garlic

Preparation

I am not good at cutting and slicing work. So you know what to do, right? This is simple dish. What I found difficult is ginger cutting part! How do I cook? After you’re done with cutting work. Heat a little bit of oil, add chopped garlic, put chicken and follow by oyster sauce, then ginger. Fry them for a while because ginger need some time to cook. While waiting for ginger to be right, add fish sauce, sugar, or more oyster sauce as you wish. Then add onion, mushroom, beans or other vegetable. You expected flavor to be more salty and less sweet from mushroom and oyster sauce. But I added sugar because I love sweetness.

Well, that what I cooked when I was on Koh Phangan. My friend likes Fried Egg Salad.. but it was spicy. Of course, he complaint on the next day!

Oh yeah, while I’m cooking and busy in the kitchen. Judy tried to get my attention and begging for food. He knew that I was cooking!

Another lovely day at Malibu Beach, Koh Phangan

Malibu beach located in Northern of Koh Phangan. It’s not far from Chaloklum where I live so I go there so often and always enjoy the beach over there. Drinks and food are little bit expensive compare to another beach or restaurants by the ocean. But positively, you pay for food and you get beautiful beach and atmosphere as a gift. It’s really worth to pay.

I’ve not eat any food here yet. I know a few price of some drink like Singhabeer big bottle is 80 Baht, All cocktails is 180 Baht and Fruit Shake is 80 Baht. I had Mojito here before..it was terrible anyway.
